Hawk Lead-In Fighter - Contract extensions for Raytheon and BAE Systems at Williamtown

New Defence Industry Minister Christopher Pyne is certainly racking up the frequent flyer points, jet setting about the nation meeting his new portfolio partners and announcing a slew of new and extended contracts.

At Williamstown today, he announced that BAE Systems has had a $200 million contract extension to continue its support for the Hawk Lead In Fighter.

“The two year extension to support the Hawk Lead-In Fighter ensures ongoing work for approximately 300 people at RAAF Base Williamtown, NSW and RAAF Base Pearce, WA,” Minister Pyne said.

BAE Systems will continue to sustain the Hawk fleet at Williamtown and Pearce until at least 2020, with further potential extensions available until 2026. The role includes all deeper-level and operational maintenance for the 33 aircraft.

Minister Pyne said he was also pleased to announce an extension to the Air Combat Training Services Support Contract for the ongoing sustainment and operation of the Air Combat Group's Hornet, Super Hornet and Growler Aircrew Training Simulators Systems.

“This extension awarded to Raytheon Australia and its subcontractor Milskil, is valued at approximately $100 million and brings together separate contracts for the management and execution of training and support services for Classic Hornet and Super Hornet platforms currently being undertaken by Raytheon Australia and Milskil,” Pyne said.

“Over the past decade, Raytheon Australia has assembled a proven team who have worked together to support Air Force training systems at RAAF Bases Amberley (QLD), Williamtown (NSW) and Tindal (NT),” Raytheon Australia managing director Michael Ward said in response to the announcement.
