Elbit Systems announced that a Brazilian subsidiary, Ares Aeroespacial e Defesa S.A. ("Ares"), was awarded a framework contract, in a total value of approximately $100 million, to supply 12.7/7.62 mm Remote Controlled Weapon Stations ("RCWS") to the Brazilian Army. The contract includes associated equipment and services. The RCWS, named REMAX, will be supplied over a five-year period. Data Link Solutions (DLS), a joint venture between Rockwell Collins and BAE Systems, will provide improved tactical Link 16 communication capabilities for the F-16 fleet of Foreign Military Sales customers. The U.S. Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) has awarded DLS an $11.7 million contract for the production of Multifunctional Information Distribution System - Low Volume Terminals (MIDS-LVTs) for the F-16 Link 16 program and the option of $7.7 million for additional MIDS-LVT terminals. The Department of Defence (DoD) has announced a $232 million contract extension to expand GE’s support of jet engines for the Royal Australian Air Force’s (RAAF) fighter fleet until 2025. Under the contract, GE will provide engineering, supply and maintenance support for the 84 engines of Australia’s F/A-18F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler aircraft fleets. The Growler fleet is scheduled to enter service in 2017.
