The DCNS design for the Shortfin Barracuda has been selected for the Sea 1000 Future Submarine Program. French firm DCNS have been awarded the contract to provide Australia with 12 submarines. While the design is French, the build will be all-Australian. The boats will contribute to Australia’s regional naval capability for several decades to come.
